Welcome the newest member of the VCSQI Board - Brody Wehman, MD, MSCR, MSc, Bon Secours Mercy Health System


On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the VCSQI Board unanimously voted to elect Dr. Brody Wehman as the newest edition of the leadership team.


Dr. Brody Wehman is a highly accomplished cardiac surgeon with extensive expertise in cardiovascular surgery, epidemiology, and integrated science. He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and has completed advanced training, including a Master of Science in Epidemiology and a Master's in Integrated Science and Technology. Currently serving as the Medical Director for Structural Heart and Valvular Therapies at Bon Secours Mercy Health System in Richmond, VA, Dr. Wehman has a significant leadership role in advancing cardiac care. His professional journey includes key positions such as Chief Resident and Research Fellow at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.


Dr. Wehman is also a prolific researcher with numerous peer-reviewed publications, presentations at major conferences, and contributions to book chapters, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing the field of cardiovascular surgery. His research has earned him several prestigious awards, including the Richmond Magazine "Top Doc" for Cardiac Surgery and the APSselect distinction from the American Physiological Society.


In addition to his clinical and research accomplishments, Dr. Wehman is actively involved in leadership and service within the medical community, holding positions on various councils and boards at Bon Secours Mercy Health. He is also dedicated to community service, contributing to initiatives such as the Missions of Mercy Project and serving as a lead Sunday school teacher and Cub Scout den leader. Dr. Wehman's combination of clinical excellence, research prowess, and community involvement underscores his significant impact on the field of cardiac surgery and beyond.
