New VCSQI Board Member: Wendy Freeman

We are pleased to announce that Wendy Freeman, Director of the Enterprise Cardiovascular Service Line (Sentara), has accepted a position on the Board of the Virginia Cardiac Services Quality Initiative (VCSQI).


Wendy brings extensive cardiovascular leadership, quality improvement, registry, and clinical experience to this role. She currently leads enterprise-wide cardiovascular initiatives across Sentara, partnering with clinical, operational, physician, finance, technology, and external teams to advance strategic priorities and improve patient outcomes. Her experience includes oversight of cardiac and vascular quality programs, national registries, accreditation, workforce development, risk management, and cross-system collaboration.


In addition to her work at Sentara, Wendy serves as the Eastern Regional Lead for the Virginia Heart Attack Coalition (VHAC) and has participated on the American Heart Association’s Executive Leadership Team for the Heart Walk. She is also pursuing a Master of Business Administration, with an expected graduation date of December 2026.


Wendy’s appointment reflects her commitment to advancing cardiovascular quality, strengthening collaboration among healthcare organizations, and promoting patient-centered care across Virginia.
